#GetGoodSummer Linky Party: Week Five

Week five... over half way! How is your #GetGoodSummer coming on?

We are in the middle of a fabulous three weeks in Norway, and so my aim here has been to tackle my first goal...

1. Half hour exercise every day
This was one of my goals last year, which completely went to pot when I discovered I was pregnant, and spent the rest of the summer feeling sick and hanging my head over the toilet. Nice. Getting rid of my pregnancy weight is high on my to-do list, and at the end of the day, I just FEEL so much better when I've had a bit of exercise... so I'm going to be doing a lot of cycling, swimming in the Norwegian fjords, and I might try my hand at a new sport... any suggestions?!? I'm feeling the love for Pilates or something like that, but feeling a bit nervous about joining up to something... hmmm... well... its a Get Good Goal now, so I'd better act on it!

I have been swimming in the fjord, come rain or shine! It's been hard to motivate myself to get in at times (particularly when its been raining!) but my mother-in-law has held me accountable and has been joining me. I have never once regretted it. Once I'm in the water it doesn't feel so cold anymore and I'm loving it, but let me tell you, those first few steps are icey! (Or as Ava would say "Ice-ice-baby!"). We have been swimming from the cottage to the jetty and back, but the aim this week is to swim around the island (don't freak out... the island is fairly small!) I'm definitely finding the swim feels like its getting easier, which I suppose is a good sign, but I feel like we're ready to up the anti- now, and attempt something a little more challenging!

The big swim!
Messing about in the shallows! Check out the seaweed!
So how are you getting on?! Link up your week five posts and please stop by and read a couple of other links too... its so encouraging to get a comment! I'll be working my way round you all over the course of the week as usual!

If you aren't a blogger, just leave a comment below and let us now how you're getting on!

  3. Hi Claire, loving the photos! Looks like you're making the most of your time away :)
Well last week was a strange one for me. It started well on Monday with our Holiday Bible Club at church in the morning and some more reluctant paint stripping in the afternoon. Then we got a call from my mother-in-law to say that Nanna had been rushed to hospital and given 2 days to live, as her liver cancer had spread rapidly. Andy got a flight to Belfast early on Tuesday and I did another morning at HBC before giving my apologies, dropping the dog off at my uncle's place and getting a flight on Wednesday, hoping that I still had a chance to say goodbye. I didn't need to worry, as Nanna is one tough cookie! She's getting weaker every day but we all had a chance to say our goodbyes and shed a few tears before returning to work etc. Anyway, despite our unexpected trip, I have increased my tri-weekly runs to 6 miles and made some slow and steady progress on de-cluttering, too :)
