“Laura felt a warmth inside her. It was very small, but it was strong.
It was steady, like a tiny light in the dark, and it burned very low but
no winds could make it flicker because it would not give up.”
-Laura Ingalls Wilder, The Long Winter-
I always feel like "post-Christmas" winter is a season all of its own.
It is cold, dark and dreary, but there is still something special about it.
A
chance to keep cosy in the house and cherish the thought that though
the world outside seems dead, spring is working in the silence, under
the ground, in the soil.
Sowing hope in little roots.
And so we're going to try and savour these weeks of winter cold and gloom, and find magic moments in the cosy comfort of home, warming winter meals and icey adventures...
What are you doing with these cold winter weeks? Share your bucket lists, activities, recipes, memories, adventures! Anything and everything that revels in this wintery wonderland.

Like the idea of keeping a weather diary :)
ReplyDeleteHi Claire, I've just discovered you via Suzanne Whitton and love your Winter Bucket List. My boys love wood-stomping, marshmallows and blanket-based activities! I'll look forward to joining the hop soon.
ReplyDeleteLove the 'hope' side of your post. Totally right to be focussing on the positives. Like the fact that its getting lighter every evening (just a few mins, but that adds up over even a week!). I've added my Things I Discovered in December. I know its got some Christmassy stuff in there but there's plenty of other wintery stuff that applies to Jan! S
ReplyDeleteyour winter bucket list just reminded me we haven't done our thank you card yet! I think we'd like to make a fort and decorate cookies too. Have added my link - just so you're not confused by the review title of our post - we've got our snowman craft and winter messy play in the same post! xxx
