Sisters in July: Cat-spotting...

One of our girls favourite games when out and about in the garden is "Cat-spotting"... Maggie, our neighbours' cat, is a gentle but shy creature, and is, needless to say, not the biggest fan of pokes and prods by chubby toddler fingers, or by wobbly little legs tumbling over each-other in order to reach her with arms outstretched.

She runs. And, if I'm honest, I don't blame her.

Over the years, Maggie has found a number of suitable hidey-holes to escape these little toddling fans. A couple of years ago, it was sitting basking in the sunshine in the birdhouse; last year, it was our shed roof. This year, she seems to have found a nice shady spot in her own garden under a garden chair.

And it seems this is where she's likely to stay, as although she is called, waved at and pointed at, she is safe, as a locked garden gate remains between her and the scrutinizing sisters who want a look in...

Yes, both our girls are cat fans... its a shared loved. For both girls, "Katze" was one of their first words, and "Miaow" was one of their first animal sounds. And now, "cat-spotting" is a hobby they are both passionate about, and eager to share with each other. If a beloved "Katze" is spotted by one of them, the other will be prodded and pulled, shoved and shuffled along until they show suitable interest in said cat.

Two little sisters, sharing a love of a little furry creature.

Their beloved Maggie Cat.

Can you spot Maggie?

  4. Sad how the love between toddlers and cats is usually very one-sided... When our cats hear the Girl's joyous cries of "Poes! Poes!" they run and hide as fast as they can. Slowest one to hide gets to play horsey with the Girl...
