Love the Little Things...

I stumbled across this little linky run by Morgana at But Why Mummy Why and thought it was right up my street... looks like it might be a fun little linky to join in with now and again.

As anyone who dips into this blog regularly knows, I'm all about loving the little things, appreciating the ordinary.

And ordinary is what this week has been.

Gradually, Heidi and I are adjusting to mornings without Ava. It really is amazing how quickly those three hours fly and before we know it, we're walking back up the hill for the school pick up.

So here's what I've been loving this week...

Read
I'm taking every opportunity I can to enjoy a few pages of "The Little Village School" by Gervase Phinn. I'm really enjoying it... so much of it takes me back to my teaching days, and its nice to read a book where I can totally resonate with a lot of what's going on! I love the stereotypical characters and the easy humour of the storyline. Thoroughly recommend (although I haven't finished it yet!)

Watched
I stumbled across this Youtube channel earlier this week called "WhatsupMoms"... very American but utterly hilarious. I can SO resonate with the majority of Elle's videos! Lets call it the not so polished side of parenting! Why not go take a look!

Heard
Really helpful sermon about Hannah called "Prayer: A guide for the Brokenhearted"... I've been thinking a lot about the fact that the book that we're looking at on Sundays (1 Samuel) starts off with a broken family and a weeping woman. A reminder that God gets involved in the mess of life and works all things together for our good and his glory. Thankful for the hope of the Gospel when circumstances in life sometimes seem hard or messy.

You can listen to it here...

Made
OK... this is potentially cheating, but back in the spring I planted some veg in our never before used veggie patch, and to my utter amazement, we now have a lovely crop of onions which I am making the most of! Does something I "grew" count as something I "made"??

Wore
Basically whatever was at the top of the clothes pile... we're still getting used to the school run!

And lastly...
This week I had my first childless morning for three years. OK, I've had other ones, but in the past they've been because I needed to be somewhere, or do something, and so I organised babysitters. Yesterday was the first day I had a child free day in three years with no plans. Ava was at nursery, and Heidi spent her weekly Thursday morning with my Mum. And what did I spend my morning doing? Fixing up my blog of course! (Try doing it with a three year old pulling on your trouser leg and an 18 month clambering onto your lap... its basically a no go)

So that's my week in a nutshell. Busy, but we survived.

Now on to the next!

Happy Weekend Everyone!

  1. Yay! So good to see you here too Claire! You'll be sick of the sight of me soon! :) Isn't it always the way that we dream of some time child-free and then when we get it, we feel totally at a loss? Glad you got some bloggy things done anyway! Have a great weekend lovely xx

  4. Love your blog! One of my favourite things about hosting this linky is finding new blogs to have a nosey at. That video you've featured is hilarious, definitely checking out more of her stuff.
Thanks for linking up, sorry it's taken me a few days to get to you.
    Have a lovely week xx

  5. I think growing onions definitely counts as something you made - and is wildly impressive to boot - do they taste good too?
