For my Granda...

Early this morning, my Granda went to glory.

My last remaining grandparent went peacefully home to the Saviour he loved, leaving a lasting legacy of faith with his children, his children's children, and now impacting our children too.

What a heritage we have.

My abiding memories are of much-anticipated trips to his sweet shop in my little years, the way he skinned his potatoes, and singing with him children's songs about Jesus... one song stands out...

"Ten and nine, eight and seven, six and five and four
Call upon the Saviour while you may,
Three and two, coming through, the clouds in bright array...
The countdown's getting lower every day"

Life is a countdown. There's no escaping that fact... and times like this remind you of the brevity of it. But Grandad was ready for his final day this morning... he was ready to be with his Saviour. We feel sad and grieve, but he does not.

He is home.

Thank you Jesus for hope in death, joy in sadness, smiles through tears.

He is home.
