No visit to Derbyshire is complete without a trip to Chatsworth House, a stunning country Estate mentioned by Jane Austen in "Pride and Prejudice" and home to the late Duchess of Devonshire, Deborah - one of the infamous Mitford sisters...
So on our last day, we met up with my side of the family and headed to our favourite Derbyshire haunt.
There is just something magical about this place that draws me back, time and time again...
When we got to the courtyard, we wandered around the shop, stocked up on some Christmassy goodies and then headed to the cafe for hot chocolates and babycinos.
By the time we were finished, it was pitch black outside, and the girls were more than happy about the adventure of a walk in the dark, Ava leading the way with her flashing wellies!
We returned to my Aunt's for an amazing four course dinner before hitting the road and heading south with lots of sleeping children in the back of the car...
It was the perfect end to our Derbyshire adventure!
Sounds like a lovely autumn day at a beautiful place :) xx
ReplyDeleteI love chatsworth house - I went there a several times when I lived in manchester for a few years x
ReplyDeleteFirst time I went to Chatworth house was on our honeymoon! Will never forget it, very special!😀
ReplyDeleteOh how lovely! I've only been to Chatsworth once, and that was for a wedding so I didn't get much of a chance to explore, but it's on our list of places to go back to one day :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab way to spend your last day in Derbyshire with your family, Chatsworth House has always looked beautiful. The kids all look like they're having a fab time exploring the grounds with the whole family there, it's great that you got to go back all together and make even more family memories there. That four course meal sounds like a great way to end the day before a long drive home. Thanks for linking up with me on Country Kids.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a perfect family day! I haven't been yet to Chatworth house yet, but would LOVE to go :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful family day in a gorgeous setting. Loving the sound of Ava's flashing wellies too! xx
