Growing Up // Siblings in February...

I determined to take these photos yesterday, as welly-booted feet trudged through puddles, and little hands grasped sticks and stones like precious collector items. These three of mine... such different personalities... each with their own interests and quirks and delicious uniqueness. Each character becoming more and more established with time. Each dynamic, different.

They are growing up... I feel it in my bones. With each decision to take on a new level of independence... even in the small things... Ava independently coming up with projects and ideas... Heidi no longer needing help with her socks or her coat zip... Jonas, determining that no spoonful of food shall pass his lips unless its his own little chubby hand holding the spoon.

They have their own little thing going on... the last few mornings, I have found the three of them playing together... Jonas being drawn increasingly into their world of make believe. The other day, he and Heidi were the owners of a candle shop. Yesterday. the three of them sat on the kitchen floor, having conversations on their "mobile phones". There is nothing that makes him happier than being included in their little games, and it warms my heart to see him gradually learning the turn-taking, sharing and compromising needed to play well with his siblings.

And all the while, another little sibling is growing and kicking and making its presence known. A little play buddy all of his very own. I can't wait for this fourth piece of the puzzle to join our little crew.

My three little siblings in February...
