The Things They Say // Spring 2018

It's been a while since I've written one of these. Life is crazy... hectic crazy... but beautifully crazy. There have been some not so beautiful moments in there... like when the kiddos got food poisoning, and when our dishwasher stopped working AGAIN. But let's not go there. Life is great, but I'm just keeping it real. It isn't picture perfect.

Still, if there's one thing that will always cheer me up, its listening in to the kids' chatter. Honestly, I love their random little world. Now Jonas is in the mix too, it can get super random at times. But I still try to jot down the funny things they say, just like I did when I only had two children and life was a little more, shall we say - calm?

Here's some of the random conversations I've been privy to recently, the ramblings of a 6, 5 and almost 3 year old (Elias has yet to get in on the act!)

Ava: GAHHHH!!! Heidi won't stop asking me who I'm going to marry!!!!!
Jonas: It's OK Ava - you can marry me!

Me (to Jonas and Heidi wrapped up in blankets and looking forlorn in their play tower in the garden): Would you like to come in and watch a movie, you two?
Heidi: We can't! We're too busy being hungry and lost in the North Pole!

Heidi: Why do Sylvanians cost so much? Is it because the people who make them need to save up because they reaaaaaaally want to go to Disneyland Paris?

On Mother's Day:
Ava: We shouldn't do any work either...
Me: Why not?! You're not a Mama!
Ava: No! But I'm a future Mama!!

Child (can't remember which one!): Did you have a big van when Uncle Alex was little too?
Me: What, a big van to fit everybo..."
Child (interrupts): To fit your bottom in it?
Me: Oy!!!!

Spelling practice...
Heidi: P-U-T... put! OOOOOOOOOoooooohhhhhh! I LOVE this word! I want to do it again!

They keep things amusing around here anyway... I love looking back on these posts! And I know one day I'll be really, really glad I recorded all of this.

And just so Elias doesn't feel left out... here's the conversation I had with him the other day...

Me - Ma-Ma
Elias: Pa-pa
Me: No! Ma-Ma
Elias: Pa-Pa!
Me: Oh OK - Pa-Pa
Elias: Mama!

He's a cheeky one!
