Summer days on the fjord...

We have had a lovely relaxing day down by the fjord... Ava went on her first boat trip, which was a great success as she loved speeding along... she was NOT however, such a fan of the lifejacket and kept throwing herself back and having full on hissy fits every time the boat slowed down and she remembered she was wearing it. Oh dear! There was a point where we thought perhaps she was more of a liability when it was on than off! However, as soon as the boat got some speed, she was happily distracted by the waves and the spray and the engine noise and seemed to accept the giant orange monster that kept attacking her in the face!

This afternoon, while Ava was napping, Dave went fishing with his cousin while I sat out on the veranda with a good book. Was so nice just to hear the water lapping at the rocks beneath me, the birds singing merrily and the otherwise calm silence. There is something so peaceful and refreshing and renewing about simply being in God's creation. It was perfect. As seems to be getting a regular habit, I discovered my daughter, 2 hours later, in another of her interesting sleeping positions...

Bless her... this mountain air seems to be doing something to her... every day since we got here, she's been sleeping 2 hours in the morning, 2 hours in the afternoon and 12 hours at night. Not complaining.

We've been making the most of the good weather, as you never know how long it will last in Norway, and we're hopeful to see a few more sunny days so Ava can do a bit more paddling in the rock pools and have a few more walks with her grandparents!

I love this picture... isn't it so funny? All three of them reading a text together. I don't think my grandparents would have even heard of a text message when I was that age. How times have changed!!
